Buy a "Get Mounted In Milo" t-shirt! Medium-Large-Extra Large $15.00 South Central Iowa's fastest growing taxidermist. Just 30 minutes south of Des Moines. Here at Derek Hoch Taxidermy we strive to bring you the most life-like recreation of your trophy by using the best materials available. We are committed to correctly portraying the animal as anatomically as possible. We do this by constant field research, reference materials and continuous education on the most current taxidermy methods. Thoughts of the very moment that you harvested the animal will be fresh in your mind as you the quality craftsmanship that goes in to every mount that we do. We tan all of the skins that we mount in house. From deer to bears to coyotes to birds and fish we use only the best tans, forms, eyes and supplies to portray the animal it once was. Some small details that are not usually noticed such as the correct color of a nose of a deer to the extra details that we put into our habitats are the things we do to produce a quality mount. Remember really good work takes longer then sloppy work. This applies to taxidermy as much as anything else. Even though we may not be the least expensive we feel that the quality mounts we produce will bring you years of enjoyment. It takes time to meticulously prepare and tan skins. If sufficient time is not allowed for preparing, mounting and drying the final job will reflect this. It takes time to produce the right details, such as anatomically correct eyes, noses, posture and hair patterns of the animal. The old adage "you get what you pay for" often applies to taxidermy work. Quality taxidermy, whether deer, small game, birds and fish requires knowledge and time. When searching for a taxidermist you want someone that posses these qualities among others. A licensed taxidermist, as we are, means they have met certain criteria to be licensed. This often is a overlooked quality when searching for a taxidermist. Take it to a licensed taxidermist that you know has the qualifications to do the job correctly. Ask if the taxidermist is in fact licensed. Remember that you are not only paying for your trophy to be mounted but also for the knowledge and talent that the taxidermist has worked long and hard to develop. Don't be afraid to shop around for a good taxidermist. Take some time and visit some different taxidermy shops. Ask questions, look around and compare work. A quality driven taxidermist will have actual mounts for you to see. Quality taxidermy looks good and should last a lifetime when cared for properly. Take the time to invest in a mount which you will find joy in displaying for years to come. After all. you invested time and money to obtain the animal, why skimp know? Give us a call, we'll be glad to talk with you. We appreciate the opportunity and take pride in your trophy as if it were our own. Thanks, Derek Hoch |
